Description
A pair of cottages located on Mill Lane in Cogenhoe, dating to 1734, with alterations and extensions in the 20th century. The cottages are constructed of rubble limestone, banded with ironstone, and have a pantile roof, with brick end and ridge stacks. They have a three-unit plan and a two-storey, four-window front. A 20th-century door and porch are situated to the left of the centre, with a plank door and wood lintel to the right. Two-light casement windows with wood lintels are present on both the ground and first floors. A datestone inscribed "K/IA/1734" is situated on the first floor centre. A one-storey 20th-century extension is on the right side, and a two-storey extension is on the left. Number 9 has an open fireplace featuring stop-chamfered bressumer and a bread oven. The cottages were formerly thatched. They were likely originally built as a single house.
