Description

A terrace of three estate cottages dating from around 1848, built for the Althorp estate. The cottages are constructed of coursed ironstone with a Flemish bond brick front, featuring ironstone dressings. They have slate roofs with stone cope ends, shaped kneelers, and brick gable and axial stacks.

The plan is a row of three cottages with a central wing to the rear, flanked by outshuts. The cottages are in a Neo-Tudor style.

The two-storey exterior has a symmetrical six-window front, arranged as 2:1:2. The central projecting gabled bay features a canted bay window with battlements and a large three-light, four-centred arch window above. There is a shield in the gable and a finial. To the left and right are recessed porches with chamfered four-centred arches and arched rib doors. Flanking these porches are three-light wooden mullion-transom windows, and two-light windows to the first floor. All windows are set in chamfered stone openings and contain leaded pane casements; the centre first floor window has painted arch lights. The rear features a central gabled wing flanked by single-storey brick outshuts.

The interiors were not inspected.
