Description

A pair of semi-detached estate cottages dating to circa 1848, built for the Althorp estate. The cottages are constructed of coursed ironstone with a Flemish bond red brick front, featuring ironstone dressings. The roof is slate, with stone coped gable ends incorporating shaped kneelers. A central brick axial stack serves both properties.

The plan comprises a pair of semi-detached cottages with side entrances, a central rear wing, and flanking rear blocks. The cottages are designed in a Neo-Tudor style.

The two-storey exterior presents a symmetrical two-bay front, with the gabled bays slightly projected and bearing shields in the gables—the left-hand gable displays a finial. They have three-light wooden mullion windows with transoms on the ground floor, all featuring diamond-leaded panes. On each gable end is a chamfered four-centred arch doorway with arch ribbed doors, and a similar chamfered four-centred arch window above. The rear elevation features a central gabled wing and flanking two-storey blocks with pyramidal roofs.

The interiors were not inspected.
