Description
Stoke Plain Farm consists of a range of farm buildings that enclose three sides of a yard behind the farmhouse. Built around 1840 and altered in the 20th century, the buildings are made of coursed squared limestone and have hipped slate roofs, forming a U shape. The main range faces the farmhouse and contains a barn with a pair of opposed double doors and grain lofts at either end. There are single-storey return wings; the left wing originally housed stabling for working and carriage horses, with a small coach house at the end closest to the house, while the right wing was used for cattle. A projecting range that used to divide the yard into two halves has been largely rebuilt and included a shelter shed with pig-sties at the end nearest the house. This complex is part of a model farm setup.
