Description
The Poplars, which houses Co-operative Funeral Services, is a mid-19th century building designed in a classical style. It is constructed of yellow brick with stone dressings and features a hipped roof covered with Welsh slate, including two box dormers. The building has two storeys and attics, with a first-floor sill band and a cornice supported by console brackets. There are three sash windows with marginal glazing bars set within architrave surrounds. The central entrance is a glazed porch, flanked by a pair of single-storey canted bay windows. The building is particularly noted for its elaborate cast iron verandah on the ground floor of the south side elevation, which is designed in a late Regency style.
