Description

Fernbank is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, topped with a 20th-century pantile roof and featuring brick stacks at the ends and ridge. The building has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys high with an attic, presenting a three-window range.

The central entrance consists of a six-panel, part-glazed door with an overlight and wood lintel, set within a 20th-century gabled porch. The ground and first floors are adorned with three-light thin wood mullion and transom windows, each with stop-chamfered wood lintels, except for a 20th-century three-light casement window on the ground floor to the left and a blocked window on the first floor to the left. There is also a three-light cellar window to the left, featuring a wood lintel. At the rear, there is a limestone plaque located below the eaves, which has a circular moulding, and a two-storey 20th-century extension to the right.

Inside, the farmhouse includes a dog-leg stair with stick balusters and scrolled tread ends. The sitting room features a large chimneypiece, possibly made of Coade stone, which is said to have originated from Easton Audit House, demolished in 1801. The property also has a stone cellar.
