Description
Elkington Lodge Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid 18th century. It is constructed of brick and has 20th-century plain-tile and slate roofs. The building was originally likely designed with a two-unit plan but has since been altered to a T shape. It stands two storeys tall with an attic.
The entrance front, which dates from the mid 18th century, features a two-window range of casement windows set beneath shallow arch heads. To the right, there is a projecting cross wing that includes a four-panelled door on the return wall, topped with a 19th-century hood, and a one-window range of casement windows. The farmhouse has a brick gable parapet and brick stacks located at the ridge and ends.
The rear of the building is similar in style, with a gabled cross wing and 19th-century single-storey extensions. An early 18th-century wing is located at the far left, which also has a two-window range of casements; the ground floor windows are set under shallow brick arches, while the first-floor windows feature half dormers above. There is a lateral brick stack and another brick stack at the end. At the time of inspection, part of the left side was roofless.
