Description

Cromwell Cottage Restaurant is a house that dates back to the mid-17th century and has undergone significant alterations and additions in the 20th century. It is constructed from coursed squared ironstone and features a plain-tile roof from the 20th century, along with brick stacks at the ends and ridge, and a stone lateral stack. The building has a three-unit plan with a cross wing, standing two storeys high with an attic and a four-window range.

There is a part-blocked door to the right of the centre, which has a wooden lintel, and a one-light window. To the left of the door is a two-light casement window with moulded stone jambs and a lintel from an original stone mullion window, while to the right is a three-light casement with a wooden lintel. On the first floor, there are a pair of two-light casements to the left with wooden lintels, and a pair of ovolo-moulded stone mullion windows to the right, both featuring hood moulds; the innermost window has had its mullion replaced by a casement.

To the left of centre, there is a single-storey 20th-century extension that includes a porch. The cross wing on the far left has been much altered in the 20th century, with its gable largely rebuilt as a stone lateral stack. The building features quoins and stone-coped gables with kneelers. Inside, there are stop-moulded spine beams and an open fireplace with a stop-moulded bressumer. The front end stack of the cross wing has an open fireplace with stop-chamfered stone jambs. The 20th-century extensions are not considered to have special architectural interest.
