Description
This is a row of four cottages located on Mill Lane in Chipping Warden, dating from the 18th century but altered in the 20th century. The cottages are constructed from coursed and uncoursed ironstone rubble with a concrete tile roof and brick chimney stacks. They are two stories tall with an attic and consist of eight bays, with the two bays at each end being higher and having separate roofs.
The doorway in the third bay from the right features a wooden lintel and a recessed 20th-century ridged plank door. There are additional entrances located at the rear and side of the cottages. The ground floor windows have wooden lintels and consist of 20th-century two- and three-light wooden casements, while the window in the left bay retains an old iron casement. The first floor windows are also two- and three-light wooden windows with wooden lintels and 20th-century casements. The rear walls of the two central cottages have been rebuilt in brick. The interior has not been inspected, but it is said that these cottages were originally farm buildings that were remodeled into residential units in the 20th century.
