Description

Church Cottage and Church End Cottage are a pair of cottages dating from the 17th century. They are built from coursed ironstone rubble and feature thatched roofs with brick stacks.

Church Cottage, located on the left, has two storeys and an attic, with two bays. It includes a two-light window with a wooden lintel and 20th-century casements in the left bay, and a one-light window with a wooden lintel to the right. On the first floor, there is a similar window in the right bay, and a two-light window in the left bay with a wooden lintel and 20th-century metal casement. There are also two 20th-century dormers and a 20th-century extension to the left.

Church End Cottage, on the right, also has two storeys and two bays. It features a two-light window with a wooden lintel and an old iron casement in the left bay, and a similar three-light window in the right bay. There is another two-light window in the right bay with a wooden lintel and an old iron casement, as well as a two-light window with a wooden lintel and a 20th-century casement. The entrance is located in a 20th-century lean-to extension to the right.

Inside Church Cottage, there is a set of chamfered beams and an open fireplace, and it is said to retain its original roof structure. Church End Cottage has not been inspected but is reported to have been remodelled in the 20th century, with the old fireplace and staircase removed. The cottages back onto the churchyard and have a strong group value with the church.
