Description
The Stocking Frame is a house, formerly a farmhouse, dated 1776. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with some flared headers and features a ridged tile roof, along with brick ridge and end stacks. The building is L-shaped, with two storeys and an attic. The main front has three windows and includes a 20th-century door with an overlight and a straight hood supported by brackets. To the left, there is a canted bay window with a pair of horned sash windows at the front and 8-pane sashes on the sides. On the ground floor to the right, there is a 12-pane horned sash window with a gauged brick lintel. The first floor has similar sash windows with brick headers above their lintels. A datestone above the door is inscribed with B/VE/1776. The house features an ironstone plinth, a storey band in English bond, and brick modillion eaves. The right gable is stone-coped with kneelers, while the left has a hipped roof. A wing at the rear left has irregular fenestration, and its rear portion is made of coursed squared limestone and ironstone. This wing continues with a single-storey extension of coursed limestone rubble. The interior has not been inspected.
