Description
No. 6 on The High Street is a house dating from the mid-17th century and the 19th century. It is constructed of squared coursed lias stone and features a slate roof with an L-shaped plan. The building has two storeys and the road-facing elevation includes a two-window range with a gabled cross wing on the right. The window on the left has 19th-century casements beneath a wooden lintel, while the right window is a four-light stone-mullion window with a hood moulding; the ground floor window has leaded lights. Part of the gable has been rebuilt in brickwork, and there is a central brick stack. The right elevation features one three-light stone-mullion window, which is now blocked. The left gable has a six-panelled door with glazed top lights. It is reputed that the house was built using materials from Holdenby Palace. The interior has not been inspected.
