Description

Kirby Hall Farmhouse and attached stables and barn is an early to mid-19th century farmhouse with a late 18th century barn attached, built using some reused 17th century masonry. The building is constructed of regular coursed limestone, with slate and pantile roofs. Originally, the farmhouse comprised two units with an integral stable. It has a five-window front with 19th century casement windows, some featuring moulded stone jambs and one a moulded stone head. A moulded stone arch doorway with keyblocks gives access to the stables, and a plank door with a stone lintel leads to the house. A brick stack is located on the ridge. The rear of the house has two two-light stone mullion windows. The attached barn, to the right of the main front, has slit vents. The rear of the barn has a central cart entrance with a moulded stone segmental arch. Inside the farmhouse, a reset fielded panelled door is present. The carved masonry is likely reused from Kirby Hall.
