Description

Hill Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid-17th to mid-18th century. It is constructed of regular coursed lias and ironstone with a slate roof. Originally a three-unit plan building, it now has a two-storey, three-window front with 19th-century casement windows under wooden lintels. A 19th-century panelled door is located on the left, also under a wooden lintel. The roof features a pair of gabled dormers. The farmhouse has ashlar gable parapets and kneelers, and brick stacks at the ridge and end. A late 18th-century two-storey, two-window range is attached to the right. At the rear is a small, gabled staircase projection from the 17th century. A 20th-century wall attached to the left of the rear elevation contains a reset 4-centred moulded stone arch with the date 1647. The interior remains uninspected but may retain traces of open fireplaces. The building holds group value in its contribution to the local landscape.
