Description
The gates and gatepiers located approximately 150 meters southwest of Bulwick Hall are a notable architectural feature. The garden was likely designed around 1676 for James Tryon. The gatepiers, which are probably from the late 17th century, are made of limestone ashlar and topped with ball finials. They are connected by a pair of early 18th-century wrought-iron gates, which include an ornate overthrow decorated with leaves and scrolls, incorporating the Tryon crest and initials. These gates and gatepiers align with the entrance gates to Bulwick Hall, as well as the attached entrance loggia, garden room, and kitchen garden walls, which also feature gates and gatepiers near the Orangery and Gardener's Cottage.
