Description
Hill Cottage is a house located on Church Street in Nassington, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with extensions added in the 20th century. The building is constructed of squared coursed limestone and brick, topped with roofs made of Collyweston stone and artificial slate. Originally designed as a two-unit plan, it is a single-storey structure with an attic. The façade features a two-window range of 20th-century casement windows set beneath restored wooden lintels. To the left, there is a window with a narrow section of stonework between the lights, and a 20th-century door also located to the left, under a wooden lintel. The house has a pair of hipped eaves dormers that contain casement windows, and there are brick and stone stacks at both ends of the building. An outbuilding to the right, now used as a garage, has an artificial slate roof. The rear of the house has seen 20th-century extensions. Inside, the kitchen retains the remains of an open fireplace with a bressumer, and both rooms feature a large spine beam with stop chamfers in the kitchen. Hill Cottage is included for its group value.
