Description
The former stables to Glendon Hall, now converted into two dwellings, date from the late 17th century or early 18th century. They are constructed of coursed squared ironstone with some limestone dressings, topped with slate and Collyweston stone slate roofs, and feature stone end stacks on the cross-wings. The building is one storey with an attic.
At the center, there is a pedimented projection that includes a clock and a 20th-century door with an overlight, flanked by 20th-century cross-windows with gauged stone heads. The main block on either side features two similar windows and a door, with a raised band above that has two circular ventilators. The wall-tie ends are visible, and a central bell-cote on the ridge has a leaded roof and a weathervane.
The wings with coped gables project to the left and right. The left wing contains a carriage entrance with a segmental head and double doors, along with a square stone in the gable, which may have been a datestone but is now illegible. The right wing has two 20th-century cross-windows on the ground floor but retains two 2-light iron-framed gudgeon-hung leaded casement windows in wooden frames above. There are twin gabled additions to the left, with the rear addition being a single-fronted cottage. The interior has not been inspected.
