Description
Rushton Manor is a house dated 1694 and 1856, located on Manor Road in Rushton. It is constructed from squared coursed ironstone with limestone dressings, featuring roofs made of Collyweston stone slate and plain tiles, along with coped gables and moulded stone end stacks, as well as a lateral stack on the north-west wing. The building has an H-plan layout, with the north-west wing dating from the 17th century and the remainder from the 19th century.
The manor is two storeys tall with an attic. The gable end of the north-west wing showcases four-light ovolo-moulded stone-mullioned windows with hood-moulds on both the ground and first floors, and a three-light window in the attic, where the central light is stepped. There is a square stone not cornice in the gable, which has the date inscribed in an oval shape. The south-west wing mirrors the details of the north-west wing.
The central linking block features a 19th-century gabled porch with an arched entrance and a 20th-century door, along with a two-light ovolo-moulded stone-mullioned window topped with a cornice. The windows have rectangular leaded glazing. The left flank of the manor has been partly rebuilt and refenestrated, except for a three-light leaded casement window with a wooden lintel. The interior has been altered, but the ground floor front room retains a cross-beam with a run-out chamfer.
