Description

The East Lodges and gateway to Rushton Hall are early 19th-century structures located on Desborough Road. These lodges are built from ironstone ashlar with limestone dressings and feature slate roofs that are hipped at the rear, along with moulded stone ridge and end stacks. The gateway includes gatepiers made of limestone ashlar, complemented by iron gates and railings, all designed in the Gothic Revival style.

There are two identical one-storey lodges, each measuring three by three bays and separated by pilasters. The elevations facing the drive have a central recessed entrance featuring a plain board door set within an arch of five orders, supported by a column. Each lodge has 2-light sash windows with arched heads, hood-moulds, and leaded glazing on either side of the entrance. The design includes a Gothic frieze, corner pinnacles, and a full-width pediment adorned with a central traceried roundel, flanked by taller pinnacles.

The street-facing elevations have similar windows, arranged with one light, two lights, and one light in each case. The gateway features four Gothic-traceried gatepiers, with the outer two having plain caps, which may be replacements, while the inner two have traceried coves and caps with crockets and finials. The gates are plain and include dog bars. The interiors of the lodges have not been inspected.
