Description

The former stables to Rushton Hall, dating from the early 19th century and marked with the date 1829 on the clock dial, are constructed from ironstone ashlar with limestone dressings. The building features a hipped roof made of Collyweston stone slate, along with moulded stone ridge and rear stacks. It is designed in a U-shape, comprising a 5-bay main block and 3-bay wings, separated by plain pilasters.

At the center, there is a clock and bell turret topped with an octagonal pyramid roof. The three central bays of the main block include segment-headed carriage arches, with the arches on the left and right fitted with double board doors. The end bays have doors that feature simple Gothic-traceried overlights and rounded segmental heads, along with small-paned windows that share similar heads. There are also some round punched ventilators present.

The windows are 3/6 sash types with gauged stone heads above. The left-hand wing contains three similar doors on the ground floor and three 3/6 sash windows above, along with two bulls-eye windows in the central bay. The right-hand wing displays similar details arranged slightly differently, although the door to the end bay has been altered. At both ends of the wings, there are lower carriage houses with half-hipped roofs and pediments above blind segmental panels. Some interior fittings from the original stables still remain.
