Description

Dovecote at Dairy Farm is likely of 15th-century origin. Constructed of roughly-coursed limestone rubble with some ironstone, the dovecote is circular in plan and features a conical roof of Collyweston stone slate, topped with an octagonal lead louvre. A board door is set beneath a wooden lintel on the north side, and there are small rectangular openings to the east, and another at a higher level to the north. The interior, which has not been inspected, is believed to contain 16 rows of nesting boxes, accommodating a total of 440 nesting places, along with a potence pole, gallows, and ladder, all of which are complete.
