Description

This is a house, now used as a shop and offices, built in the early 18th century, with later alterations in the late 18th/early 19th century and early 20th century. The exterior is of squared coursed limestone with an ashlar facade which is now painted, covered by a Welsh slate roof with a Collyweston slate roof to the rear wing. The building likely started as a two-unit plan. It is two storeys high with an attic, and has a three-window arrangement on the first floor. The windows are unhorned sash windows with glazing bars, set within plain ashlar architraves and keyblocks. An early 20th-century shop front, originally a garage showroom, features recessed doors and a large double, part-glazed door on the far right. The building has a plain ashlar parapet with a raised band below, and truncated brick and stone stacks at the ends. The rear features a late 18th-century wing, partially rebuilt in the 20th century. Inside the shop, there are boxed ceiling beams. The first-floor offices include an early 19th-century staircase leading to the attic, which has a stick balustrade. The building is included on the list for its group value.
