Description
Woodland Cottage is a house built in the early 19th century, likely designed by Humphry Repton and John Addey Repton for George Freke Evans. The structure is made of squared coursed limestone and features thatch and plain tile roofs. It has a three-unit plan in the Cottage Ornée style and is a single-storey building with an attic.
The front has a three-window range of headed casements set under shallow stone arches. To the left of the center, there is a four-panel door located in a recessed porch, which has projecting eaves supported by wooden columns. Above the porch, an eyebrow dormer with a leaded casement is set into the roof.
To the right, a bay is set back and forms a semi-circular end with a conical roof and overhanging eaves, creating a loggia supported by wooden columns. The left side features a hipped roof with a lateral stone stack and another stone stack at the ridge. The right elevation has a 20th-century glazed door under a flat stone arch, located at the center of the semi-circular loggia. The rear elevation includes three eyebrow dormers and small lean-to extensions, all with plain tile roofs. The left elevation has a leaded casement under a wooden lintel. The interior has not been inspected.
