Description
The goods shed, located approximately 20 meters south of Wellingborough Station, was built around 1857 by C.H. Driver. It is constructed of red brick with yellow and blue brick dressings and has a slate roof. The building is a single-storey structure with a single unit plan. The elevation facing the former goods yard features six bays of a blank arcade with pointed arches. There are loading bay openings between the second and fourth arches, and single-light arch-head windows in the other arches, all featuring Midland Railway style cast iron lozenge glazing. The gable end to the right has a 20th-century modified entrance. The elevation facing the platform is similar, with blank arcades and single-light windows. Inside, the shed retains its loading bays and original wooden roof structure, supported by cast-iron columns that hold two hand cranes attached to the building.
