Description
Lodge Farmhouse, originally shown as Irthlingborough Lodge on the Ordnance Survey map, is a farmhouse dating from the early 19th century, now used as a house. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone and features a slate roof with a double-depth plan. The main front has three windows, which are 19th-century casements set under gauged stone heads with keyblocks. There is a central four-panel door that also has a similar stone head. Raised string courses run between the floors, and there are renewed brick stacks at both ends of the building. The rear of the farmhouse has a catslide roof that marks the transition from the two-storey to the three-storey front range. The interior has not been inspected. The building is depicted in a drawing by George Clarke from around 1840, noted as 'Mr. Welford's residence' in the Northamptonshire Records Office's George Clarke Collection.
