Description
Manor House Barn is a barn dating from the 17th century or early 18th century, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a Collyweston stone slate roof, complete with coped gables and a truncated later brick stack at the left end. The barn has a 20th-century door with an overlight, plain board double doors, two ashlar-dressed loop lights, and a plain board square opening above, all supported by wooden lintels. The addition to the left has three square openings with wooden lintels, small-paned glazing on the ground floor, and plain boards above. The south gable is made of stone and may have a datestone, although it is now illegible. Inside, the barn consists of five bays with collar and tie beam trusses, and the roof members appear to be reused and likely not original. There are remains of plaster on the interior walls, which feature much graffiti, including circular patterns, initials, and dates from the 18th and 19th centuries.
