Description
The kitchen garden walls, gates, and gatepiers are located to the southwest of the Orangery and northeast of the Gardener's Cottage at Bulwick Park. The garden was likely established around 1676 for James Tryon. The walls are primarily from the 18th century, with restorations from the 19th and 20th centuries. They are constructed from squared coursed limestone and brick, featuring ashlar and brick header copings. A pair of limestone ashlar gatepiers with ball finials are connected by a pair of plain wrought-iron gates, which have diagonally-placed bars, a swept top, and spiked finials, possibly dating to the late 17th century. Sections of the wall extend from both sides of the gatepiers. The gates and gatepiers align with the entrance gates to Bulwick Hall and the attached entrance loggia and garden room, located approximately 150 meters southwest of Bulwick Hall.
