Description
Grove Cottage is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with a datestone from 1851 that indicates remodelling for William Mackworth-Dolben. The building is constructed from regularly coursed ironstone and has a slate roof. It features a three-unit plan and is a single storey with an attic. The façade includes a three-window range made up of single, two-, and three-light stone-mullion windows with leaded lights. The first-floor windows are dormers that have stone gables above them. There is a central 19th-century porch with a door set within an arched head window. The gable ends are adorned with ashlar parapets and kneelers, and there are brick and stone stacks at the ridge and ends. A blank shield is located at the centre of the gable. An extension is linked to the main house by a wall, which also features the datestone. The interior has not been inspected.
