Description

Manor House Farmhouse is a house that dates back to the 17th century, with alterations and significant extensions made in the late 18th and late 19th centuries. The original three bays feature a timber frame with brick infill on the northwest wall, which is partly hidden by a whitewashed brick lean-to. The southeast front was rebuilt in the mid-18th century using red and blue header bricks, and it includes a broad first-floor band course, moulded eaves, and a coursed rubble stone plinth. A late 19th-century wing on the southeast side is constructed of red brick, partly colourwashed, and includes some tile-hanging. The late 18th-century wing that projects from the northwest corner is made of colourwashed brick and has moulded eaves. The building has old tile roofs and brick chimneys and stands two storeys tall. The northwest side features irregular wooden casements and sashes, along with a large canted 20th-century porch in the northeast angle. The southeast front of the original bays has late 19th-century sashes, with two in each outer bay of the ground floor featuring concrete lintels, and paired sashes on the first floor to the right. The central entrance has a six-panelled door with a semi-circular radiating fanlight, framed by a fine rusticated wooden doorcase with pilasters and an open dentilled pediment.
