Description
Fern Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-18th century. It is constructed of red and vitreous brick, featuring a roughly chequered pattern and a band course at the first floor. The building has a moulded brick and render plinth, and the gables include some timber framing with brick infill. The roof is half-hipped and thatched, topped with a central brick chimney. The house has one and a half storeys and consists of two bays. It features three-light wooden casements, with those on the first floor set into the thatch. There is a central half-glazed door located within a 20th-century timber porch. To the right, there is a small single-storey extension from the 20th century, which has a hipped tile roof.
