Description
The Baptist Chapel, dated 1792 and attributed to F. Cox, features a colourwashed roughcast exterior on the front and sides, with slobbered and colourwashed rubble stone at the rear. It has brick dentil eaves and a hipped old tile roof, along with a small brick chimney located at the center of the rear. The front facing the road includes two late 19th-century three-pane sash windows and a central late 19th-century gabled porch that has patterned rendering, scalloped bargeboards, and double doors. At the rear, there are two similar windows, one positioned high in each end wall. To the right, there is a lower early 19th-century extension made of colourwashed brick, rubble stone, and render, featuring a flush panelled door and two paired leaded casements. Inside, the chapel retains its original gallery with a panelled front and contemporary fixed seating. The pulpit, which is also original but has been re-sited, is located above a Baptismal pool situated under the floorboards in front. The vestry includes a wooden screen with removable shutters.
