Description
The gates, railings, and piers at the grand east entrance to Waddesdon Park were built around 1880-1890, likely designed by H.A. Destailleur for Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild. The structure features cast iron double gates flanked by single gates, with railings that curve forward to create a wide segment. The railings have scrolled panels and finials, while the gates are adorned with elaborate scrolled crests and Rothschild badges depicting five crossed arrows. Stone dwarf walls with moulded copings support the gates. The gate piers and terminal piers are made of stone, showcasing vermiculated blocks and fluted friezes with acanthus scrolls at the corners, topped with pine cone finials.
