Description
The set of four statues located at the corners of the fountain terrace in the grounds of Waddesdon Manor dates from the mid-18th century and is of Italian origin. These large statues are carved from marble and represent four goddesses.
At the northeast corner, one statue is draped and holds a garland and a wreath of laurel. The southeast corner features a partially draped figure holding a ball, compasses, and lilies. The southwest corner displays a nude statue holding a small cup and a short staff, while the northwest corner has another nude figure holding a small bunch of flowers.
Each statue stands on a square stone pedestal from the 19th century, which includes a moulded base, panels, and a cornice.
