Description

The buildings at 17, 21, and 23 Rickfords Hill date from the 17th and 18th centuries. They are constructed of vitreous brick with red brick dressings, and have a projecting plinth with a moulded capping, as well as a moulded brick eaves cornice and an old tile roof. Timber framing is visible at the rear and sides. Number 17 has one dormer window and two windows in total, including a late 17th-century four-light mullioned and transomed casement. Number 21 is similar, with one dormer and two windows, and each house has a four-panel door. Number 23 was originally two houses and now has two dormers, four windows with architrave frames on the first floor, two similar windows on the ground floor, and a four-panel door on the right-hand side. A similar doorway on the left-hand side has been blocked. The interiors feature moulded ceiling beams and joists, fireplaces with chamfered lintols, and oak staircases. There is no building numbered 19 on Rickfords Hill. Buildings 7 to 23 (odd numbers) are grouped together.
