Description

23 Castle Street is a building dating from the 16th to 17th century. It has two storeys and a cellar, constructed with a timber frame and brick infilling, topped with an old tile roof. The building features a long frontage, with a house on the left side. There was a range of outbuildings that were connected under one roof, but these have since been demolished, leaving a large yard.

A modern door is located to the right of the centre, accessed by double flights of five stone steps each, which are accompanied by plain wrought iron guard railings. The first floor has a moulded beam that overhangs, and there are three windows with glazing bars.

This property is part of a group that includes Nos 19 to 25 (odd).
