Description

No. 43, Whielden Street is an 18th-century front applied to a 17th-century timber-framed building, comparable to No. 41. The building is rendered and colourwashed, with an old tile roof and a small box dormer. It has two storeys and an attic. The main entrance is a central 4-panel, half-glazed door with an architrave and hood. An early 19th-century shop bow window projects on the right-hand side, and a 3-light casement window is situated on the left. The first floor has two 3-light casement windows, the left one featuring a 4-pane fanlight. A gable wall facing The Platt has two horizontal floorbands.

A rear wing extends to the south, constructed with a timber frame and brick infill, and covered by an old tile roof. A timber-framed gable is visible to the rear roof. A lower, two-storey wing extends to the north, built of painted brick with a tile roof and dentil eaves. This wing has two casement windows on the first floor.
