Description
The walls surrounding the forecourt and garden of The Manor House, along with the corner and gate piers and a small summer house, date from the early 17th century. They are constructed of thin brick in English bond, featuring plain brick coping and pilasters. The wall on the north side of the garden was raised in the late 18th century. The gate piers on the northeast side of the forecourt are also from the 17th century, made of similar brick, and include recessed moulded panels facing the house, pilasters on the outer face, moulded neckings, and offset heads. The corner piers and the piers for the gates in the south wall of the forecourt and the north wall of the garden were altered in the late 18th century and have a simpler design, with moulded neckings, offset heads, and moulded tops to the pilasters. The late 18th-century summer house is built of red and vitreous brick, featuring red quoins and a semi-circular arch, a modillion cornice, and a pyramidal tile roof topped with a finial.
