Description
30 and 31 The Square are a pair of houses dating from the early 19th century, likely incorporating parts of a 17th to 18th-century building on the left. They feature chequered brickwork with pale vitreous headers, a brick plinth, and dentil eaves. The roofs are covered with old tiles, and there are two chimneys: one with grouped shafts made of 18th-century brick located between the left bays, and another brick chimney on the right. The houses are two storeys high with an attic and consist of four main bays, with the left bay being lower. The ground floor has irregular wooden casements with two and three lights, topped with segmental heads. The first floor displays canted oriel windows supported by brackets. There are two flush-panelled doors with a single casement adjacent to the right of centre, and an attic casement in the right gable. The buildings are included for their group value.
