Description
No. 8 The Square is a small house dating from the 17th century, which has been altered over time. It is constructed from thin 17th-century brick, with the left bay primarily in stretcher bond and a dressed stone plinth, while the right bay features flanking brick buttresses. The house has an old tiled roof with flanking brick chimneys, one of which is made from thin brick. It is one storey and has an attic, consisting of two bays. The windows are 3-light barred wooden casements, with those in the attic set in gabled eaves-line dormers. There is a door to the right of centre, which is sheltered by a lean-to tiled hood. The rear wall includes a small 2-light window with a cut brick mullion and surround, positioned with one brick's length on each side. Inside, the left room features a stop-chamfered spine beam, while the right room has a chamfered spine beam and some stop-chamfered joists.
