Description
Francklin's Cottage is a cottage dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is constructed of witchert, which is colourwashed and rendered, sitting on a rubblestone plinth. The roof is thatched and half-hipped to the south, with the gable end facing the road. The building consists of four bays: the two southern bays are from the 17th century and are one and a half storeys high, while the two northern bays nearest the road are from the 18th century and are two storeys high. There is an additional single-storey bay from the 19th century to the north, featuring a corrugated asbestos roof and garage doors.
The cottage has leaded casement windows throughout. The southern bays have a door in the left bay with a two-light casement window beside it, while the other windows are three-light and two-light. There are two eaves dormers, with the left one having two lights and the right one having three lights. At the rear of the gable, there is a diagonally set brick flue, and a 17th-century brick stack is located between the 17th-century and 18th-century bays. The 18th-century bays feature two doors in the centre and three-light casement windows, along with a gable stack.
