Description
Yew Tree Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The structure features a timber frame, with the front re-clad in brick during the 19th century. The left gable retains a frame with rendered thin brick infill, which is partly covered with boarding. Some thin brick is also present in the lower walls of the front. The roof is covered with old tiles, and there is a 17th-century chimney made of thin brick with an offset cap located between the right bays, along with a 19th-century chimney on the left.
The cottage is two storeys high and has three bays. It displays irregular 2 and 3-light barred wooden casements, and there is a 20th-century door with a lean-to hood situated between the left bays. To the right, there is a slightly projecting 20th-century extension that includes two garage doors and a dormer window above. At the rear, there is an outshot, likely from the 19th century, with a 20th-century extension added to the rear of the left bay. Inside, the cottage reveals timber framing with curved braces, wind-braces, and curved queen strut trusses. The chamfered spine beams in the right bays each have one end stopped, and the fireplaces have been altered.
