Description
No. 15 Tattam's Lane, also known as No. 1 Nearton End, is a small house dating from the 17th century, with alterations and extensions made in the late 18th to early 19th centuries. The upper part of the house is timber framed with brick infill, while the ground floor has been rebuilt in red brick. It features a half-hipped thatch roof and a central brick chimney. The house is one and a half storeys tall and consists of two bays.
The windows are barred wooden casements, with a three-light casement on the ground floor to the right and two-light casements elsewhere, including those on the first floor which are set into the thatch. There are board doors to the right and center, with the center door having a gabled wooden hood supported by shaped brackets. The gable facing the street has a three-light barred wooden casement with a segmental head on the ground floor and a paired leaded casement in the attic.
At the rear, there is a brick extension that runs along the street, featuring offset eaves, a tiled roof, and a brick chimney on the gable. This extension is one storey high with an attic and basement, consisting of one bay. It has similar three-light wooden casements on the ground floor and basement, along with a paired leaded casement in a gabled dormer.
