Description

Nearton Cottage is a 17th-century timber-frame cottage with brick infill, situated on the south side of Nearton End in Swanbourne. The timber frame is braced diagonally and the brick infill is colourwashed. The roof is thatched, with a half-hipped section to the right and a hipped section to the left, covering a later extension built of whitewashed brick. A central brick chimney is present. The cottage is one-and-a-half storeys high, with two bays. The ground floor has leaded casements, paired windows to the main bays, a single window to the centre, and a further window to the extension. A paired, barred wooden casement is located within the thatch to the left. A small, half-timbered lean-to with a tiled roof is set into the right gable and contains a three-light leaded casement above. The main entrance is to the rear.
