Description
The lychgate and churchyard wall to St. Mary's Church, dated 1871, is possibly designed by G.E. Street. The lychgate features an oak structure set on a plinth of flint and stone, topped with a steeply pitched tiled roof. It has moulded bargeboards, a castellated tiebeam, and a collar with a post between, rounded on each side with three cusped trefoils. The gateway is Gothic arched, flanked by two Gothic arched openings. Each side of the lychgate is bordered by a low boundary wall made of flint and brick, which has moulded brick coping, contributing to the overall group value of the site.
