Description
Little Finings is a house dating from the 17th century, with later alterations. It is timber-framed with brick infill to the front gable, while the remainder of the structure is flint and brick, incorporating narrow brick dressings. The roof is covered in old tiles. The property features a group of four square brick chimney shafts located centrally on the left side, with flues serving the front bay and a central cross chimney serving the far bay. The house is two storeys high with an attic, and has two bays. The front gable and left side have 20th-century barred wooden casements. The right side includes a catslide extension to the front bay, a 20th-century door within a lean-to porch in the angle, some leaded casements in the far bay, and a flat-roofed dormer. Inside, the ground floor fireplaces feature 4-centred chamfered brick arches. The first-floor fireplaces display depressed arches of chamfered brick, with moulded plaster spandrels on the far bay fireplace. A chamfered cross beam with one end stopped is found in the front bay. The far bay contains a central queen post truss. It is likely that the building has been extended at some point. There is a suggestion that the building may have originally extended further to the front.
