Description
Petty's Farmhouse is a house that dates from the late 16th to 17th century, with the south front rebuilt in the early 19th century. It features a late 18th to 19th century bay at the east end and a projecting wing at the west end. The north front of the original part displays a timber frame with brick infill, while the rest is made of brick, and the projecting wing is constructed of pale chequer brick. The house has hipped roofs covered with old tiles and a chimney stack with three diagonal shafts made of thin brick, positioned between the west bays.
The building is L-shaped and has two storeys with four bays in the main range. The north front includes irregular 20th-century barred wooden and leaded casements, along with a small lean-to projection, which may have been used for an oven, at the angle with the projection to the right. The south front features a 20th-century paired casement and a lobby entry with a 20th-century porch in the left bay. The remaining bays on the south side have paired 20th-century leaded casements on the first floor and barred wooden casements on the ground floor, with a door located between them in a 20th-century gabled timber porch. The interior may also be of interest.
