Description

Old Zac’s Cottage and Raymond’s Cottage are a small house, originally a single dwelling, now divided into two cottages. The house dates to the early 17th century and has a timber frame with red brick infill. It is roofed with old tiles and has half-hipped gables. The house is two storeys high, and features a projecting cross wing on the left side, with a jettied upper floor. The left wing has one three-light casement window on the ground floor, and two-light casement above. The right-hand portion of the original house originally had two doorways, two two-light and one one-light casement windows on the ground floor, two two-light casement windows on the first floor, and a later gabled dormer window in the centre. The front room of the cross wing has chamfered ceiling joists. The central room contains a large inglenook with a chamfered beam. The interior retains exposed heavy timber framing, including curved windbraces to the roof.
