Description
The Limes Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse located on the south side of Main Road in Upper Winchendon. It is constructed of brick and features old tile roofs. The building is 1½ storeys high and has three wide bays, with a dairy situated at the rear. The south elevation includes a door in a lean-to porch that is off-center in the left bay, along with three 3-light casements. There is a 2-light casement between the right bays that was formerly a doorway. The house has four gabled dormers, with the two on the left being 3-light and the two on the right being 2-light. There are flanking stacks and a north wing that extends at right angles to the center bay, which was formerly a dairy. The north elevation of this wing is made of rubblestone and there is a single-storey addition. A lean-to pentice runs along part of the rear of the house. Inside, the farmhouse features chamfered and stopped spine and cross beams.
