Description
The Bear House is a house that was formerly an inn, built in the 18th century. It features witchert construction that is colourwashed and rendered on a rubblestone plinth, topped with a thatched roof. To the left, there is a mid-19th century bay made of brick, which is also colourwashed and rendered, and has a slate roof. The original 18th-century section has three bays and two storeys, while the 19th-century bay is also two storeys. The 18th-century part has a central door with two rows of three narrow panels, and tripartite sashes in the outer bays. The upper floor has 2-light leaded casements. The gables are made of brick and there are flanking stacks. The left bay features a tripartite sash on the ground floor, a 2-light casement on the first floor, and a gable stack.
