Description
The Old School is a former village school that has been converted into a house. It dates from the late 19th century and is constructed of brick, featuring a stone sill band and some stone dressings. The roof is covered with old tiles. The building has an L-shaped plan and is single storey, although an upper floor has been inserted. There is a porch located under the extended eaves at the angle of the building. The gable ends have 4-light arched windows that include mullions, transoms, and trefoil heads. Other windows are also mullioned and transomed. There is a stack in the angle and at the left side, which has single diagonal flues. A lean-to roofed addition is present on the north side. The conversion to a house included the installation of new windows below the sill band on the gable elevations and some rooflights. The building is noted for its group value and its important central position in the village.
